She authored commentaries on works by Ptolemy and Diophantus, advancing algebra and celestial mechanics. Her tragic murder by a Christian mob in 415 AD, fueled by religious and political strife, is often cited as a turning point that contributed to the decline of classical learning in Alexandria.
